A Group of Somali Diaspora and other well-known community leaders and intellectuals in
Somalia who preferred to stay inside the country during the last twenty years of turmoil founded
Gargaar Trust (GT) on 01/01/2007. The purpose of the organization is to provide much needed
relief assistance and other humanitarian interventions to large number of conflict affected
civilian population scattered in Mogadishu, and its outskirts who have been subjected to
enormous sufferings and extremely destitute conditions. The organization also aims to advocate
and address the suffering and chronic poverty, and increased vulnerability facing Somali people
through effective community empowerment approaches focused on making the impacts of our
interventions more meaningful and long-lasting. In-other words our target is community
mobilization through civic education and creation of livelihood programs.
